Me along the Pacific Crest Trail facing Mount Hood, OR - Photo by my buddy, Matt
Brandon Kline is an artist whose passion for Nature has led him deep into the backcountry of our National Parks, Forests, and Wilderness Areas. He backpacks with a 4x5 large format view camera, spending as much time as he can “just being out there” well off the beaten path. “Just being,” being present and in tune with Nature, hoping to bring back photographs where light and land come together, evoking a moment of emotion that translates the story of his experience and the rugged beauty found in these places. “These Mountains, Forests, and Oceans… They will change you if you spend enough time ‘out here’ letting your spirit run free,” he states.
A naturalist at heart, he uses no tricks or manipulations in his artwork. His photographs show precisely what Nature presented to him, beautifully exposed on Fuji Velvia and Fuji Provia Films. These stills in time are then printed combining laser technology and traditional darkroom photo-chemical processing onto Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre silver-halide paper.
He does all of his own matting and framing, using Crescent Select Conservation Boards and TruVue Museum Glass. His final touch is building his own Custom Hardwood Frames, using primarily Curly Maple, to individually accentuate each photograph. Brandon whole-heartedly believes in the utmost standards of artistic integrity, controlling as much of the technicality and process of film photography as is within his means and then following through with his individualistic framing to ensure the highest quality presentation he can currently achieve.
