“Tranquil State of Being”/New Image Release

Few places on Earth can boast a mixed Northern Hardwoods/Coniferous Forest on Granite Mountains meeting by the edge of the Sea. In the far Northeast of the United States, one such place exists - Acadia National Park, Maine.

In the handful of times I have visited this place, perhaps the one thing that truly never leaves me is the smell of the Sea mingled with the scent of Fir. The fragrance inundates your senses with such pure Earthly air. If you have experienced this sensation, you know what I’m talking about. If not, all I can say is it practically forces you to succumb, willingly mind you, to the whim of Nature.

Acadia is also famous for it’s sunrises. Most notably from Cadillac Mountain, where one can be the first (along with a few hundred other people) to witness the first rays of the rising sun to touch the US. I do highly recommend this experience. But I also have made it a point to find other, quieter places to take in the dawning of a new day. On this particular morning, awaking from my hammock in the wee hours on the “Quiet Side” of Acadia, I enjoyed an utterly peaceful hike along Ship Harbor Trail all to myself…

As the darkness slowly gives in to soft blue light and your headlamp is no longer required, you see the mist and the fog lifting off the cliffs and sea. The ocean calmly lapping the rocky shores. From the canopy of forest, a burning red sun breaches the Atlantic. Moments later the glowing orb’s rays turn sea to gold and glisten trees with speckled light, softened by the misty atmosphere. Salty breezes blow in and dance with the sweetly dank aroma of the surrounding fir. Back and forth, salt and sweet, ocean lapping - such a tranquil state of being.

2019 Nature’s Grandeur Calendar

Looking for a little bit of Nature’s Inspiration for the upcoming year? Well, I am proud to present my first ever, self-designed Wall Calendar, which I am titling Nature’s Grandeur! I have completely designed every bit of this calendar myself and with the help of a local printing company, I can happily share it with you!

The calendar is 8.5x11 inches, showcasing the beauty each month of the year has to offer (and with a few exceptions, photographs have been taken in the proper corresponding month, those that aren’t are very close)! I also had some fun researching significant dates and the calendar has several fun, noteworthy (in my opinion) observances to coincide with traditional federal and religious dates.  What about Moon Phases you ask?... Yep got ‘em! Add a little biographical info, Artist Statement tidbits, and a few pics of me doing what I love and that’s it in a nutshell.

The 2019 Nature’s Grandeur Wall Calendar is $17.50 flat rate (shipping factored into cost). Just give me a call or shoot me an email to place your order! I am accepting orders until January 11th, to coincide with my Holiday Savings Print sale! Below is the direct link for more information on the Artwork Discounts -

The next level...

A couple notes to send you into the weekend with...  The Sierra Club hosted event (reference my previous blog) I attended last Sunday was extremely informative and inspirational! I'll be writing more on this in weeks to come, but for now, just let me say there was a lot to learn from the forum and speakers - one thing that really stuck out to me as a starting point was trying to think locally about what you can do as opposed to trying to tackle the overwhelming "big picture."  Simple enough, it seems, but a bit of advice we can relate to many aspects of our lives and something we as humans seem to have to constantly remind ourselves of.

And secondly, guess who was able to process all his film from last April-now?!!  Yep, I finally got to view every exposure I have made (146 to be exact!) since embarking on my new journey as an Artist!  Out of 10 rolls (10 exposures each) of medium format and 46 sheets of 4x5 large format film, I can honestly say I have been like a kid in a candy store gazing over what I believe is my strongest, best overall quality of work to date.  Spanning 24 states across the country and back from late July through early November, plus two sheets while out in the snow of Winter Storm Stella and two unfortunately overexposed sheets from last Spring, I'm speechlessly stoked and proud of the images I have been blessed to capture!!!  Especially in regards to the successful exposures made with the large format view camera, I feel Brandon Kline Wilderness & Nature Photographs will be undergoing an upgrade this year ;-)

My utmost gratitude to Bill Ammerman for the use of his Linhof Kardan 4x5 View Camera while I gather the funds to procure my own, and to Jason Arriaga for this happenstance meeting on the rocks of the Acadian coastline and his enthusiasm for capturing and sharing this pic of me in the field! Oh and while I'm at it, Amy Shuey for her awesome design on my logo...  We all need a little help here and there to be the best we can be :-)
